Five Rivers Council Mission
The mission of the Council is to bring together and support individuals and groups working to build a healthy, equitable, and sustainable community. We will hold open, participatory gatherings that honor our diverse traditions, celebrate innovative work, address the challenges we face, and develop new cooperative activities to serve the common good.
The Five Rivers
Our geographic region is the area where five rivers in Franklin County come together. It's also the area for which Greenfield is the hub. The “Five Rivers” are the Connecticut, Deerfield, Millers, Green, and Sawmill Rivers. We chose this area because there's a sense of connection and community already established. Going beyond this area would mean more transportation time, expense, use of fuel, and creation of pollution. Nevertheless, we welcome people from outside the “Five Rivers” area who want to participate or just observe. And we look forward to working cooperatively with other “Councils” now and in the future.
